Children's Religious Education
|
At the Ginger Hill Unitarian Universalist Congregation, our children's spirits are nurtured in the development of their own, individual faiths. They learn tolerance in the search for meaning and truth, of diverse religious paths while sharing a common journey on an exploration of faith.
We explore learning through fun activities, lively discussion, field trips, and social action projects. Children have the opportunity to express themselves in dramatic skits, art, crafts and music.
At GHUUC, children are encouraged not just to listen but to think and to question. Ours is a place where children can feel good about themselves and the important part they play in the world around them.
GHUUC youth grow and learn together, building their skills for leadership so that they can claim a space as leaders of future generations. Our youth participate actively in the district-wide youth programming of the Ohio-Meadville District.

They explore their spirituality and the meaning of their lives. They work to treat the earth and each other responsibly, and to live out their Unitarian Universalist faith by bringing their values of justice and peace to our hurting and troubled world.
GHUUC is a place where youth can freely express their joys, concerns, opinions, and questions in an atmosphere of caring, respect and acceptance.
A few examples of past Religious Education topics: "Experiences with the Web of Life,” focusing on the physical world around us; “We Believe,” an exploration of Unitarian Universalism for children; “Neighboring Faiths,” an introduction to world religions; “Social Justice,” an examination of the philosophy and practice of social justice; and “Timeless Themes: Stories from the Hebrew and Christian Bibles,” an introduction to Judaism and Christianity using Bible stories and lessons as interpreted by UU religious educators.
